According to recent reports from IAB Europe and IHS Technology, global mobile advertising revenue hit $19.3B last year, nearly doubling from revenue generated in 2012.

Mobile display, including rich media and video (browser-based or in-app), saw the largest growth by format at 123.4%. Mobile search also saw significant growth (up 92.1%) as well as messaging (up 19.4%). Below are the actual revenue gains year-over-year broken out by format:

The share by region of the total revenue ($19.3B) for 2013 is:

  • North America: 41.9% ($8,100B)
  • Asia-Pacific: 38.9% ( $7,525B)
  • Europe: 17.3% ($3,346B)
  • Middle East & Africa: 1.2% ($225B)
  • Latin America: 0.7% ($144B)
